Design Week Exhibit
The brief for this project was to design an exhibition environment for Sphaira, a new furniture collection by Studio Jos showcased at Miami Design Week. Defined by soft natural coloring and organic forms, the collection reimagines modern high-end furniture through calm, simple geometry. In response, the exhibition design translates this geometric language into an immersive spatial experience. A central ten-pendant kinetic light installation follows the motion of a pendulum wave, running through the center of the rectangular exhibit and casting shifting light and shadow across the furniture below, reinforcing themes of rhythm, balance, and quiet movement.
The exhibit is enclosed by acoustic curtains and fluted glass screens with integrated lighting, allowing partial views into the space while creating a sense of intrigue and exclusivity. Faced with the collection’s intentionally restrained palette and materiality, the design embraces limitation as a creative driver, prioritizing depth through layering, repetition, and light rather than contrast. A palette of neutral, muted tones was selected to harmonize with the furniture, alongside repeated use of brass and light-stained timber, ensuring the exhibition complements the collection while creating a refined and immersive viewing experience.
